Summer? What happened to Spring?
We had snow in late April, then constant rain. Good for grass… bad for getting around the fields. The sun comes out sporadically, which means those our are days to catch up on mowing.
More Snow
What was forecast to be a dusting, turned into 6″…I’m not complaining, I love snow! It was 12 degrees during the morning drive through the fields.
Alberta Clipper
We seem to be getting a lot of these fast paced little snow squalls. Its pretty snow that doesn’t cause problems. I’d be happy to have one everyday.
Winter Sunrise
I’ve seen a lot of nice sunrise, sunsets in the farm. This was taken the day after a big snowstorm. It was 18 degrees fahrenheit, you can see snow in the mountains, yet the pink hue gives a sense of warmth.
A Strong Tree
Just a pretty picture… this birch has stood the test of time, its been a landmark in the farm for more then 50 years.
Spring Watercress
This time of year is when everyone calls asking for watercress, which is just as vitimim-potent as kale. I juice it, and a great recipe is for a small bunch of watercress, 2 celery stocks, 2 green apples and a lime.

A Not So Winter Wonderland
Fall is Upon Us
Jack Frost is nipping at our heels. The first frost is forecast for the end of the week. Summer is officially over, and another year is almost done. I am enjoying all the different color leaves, which will kick into high gear in the next couple of weeks. Shenandoah Valley has some of the prettiest autumn views around. If you get a chance, take a drive out this way. Skyline drive is exceptional this time of year.
